Working with a Recruiter
The recruitment business is complex. And it is generally not fully understood by those outside of the business. We are called headhunters, telemarketers, consultants, recruiters, career counselors, personnel executives, and employment agents. However, regardless of what you may call us, make no mistake about it: we keep long hours to help the right physician with the right practice opportunity.
Lets start with the different types of recruiters: 1. An In-House Recruiter works for a particular Hospital or Organization. They recruit on behalf of that Organization on an exclusive basis. Their bias is on behalf of that organization. 2. A Retained Search Recruiter is an independent consultant who is paid an advance sum of money, as a recruiter, to act on behalf of a specific Client. They will offer other jobs to you if their client isn't acceptable. 3. A Contingency Search Recruiter is an independent consultant who is paid by a client, if and only if, a candidate who is presented, is hired. Their bias rests with the candidate. In all cases, the recruiter is paid by the hiring Organization, not by the Physician. Most of this advice applies only to the retained recruiter or the contingency recruiter. |
